COPYRIGHT (guys please read this. It’s so important.)

So I checked my email today and look what i found

image

yes, lucky me. Anyway, I don’t know how much longer this blog will be around. I’m not angry, honestly, it’s more like I’m really irritated. I’ve had this blog for 3-4 years. I have 19,400+ posts. I’ve put so much love and effort into it. This blog has become a part of me, and losing it would/will be heartbreaking.

I’ll be upfront about the whole thing because I want other people to be aware of things like this. The thing is: most of the stuff I received a copyright notice for were audio posts. And after I got the first one I went and deleted every single audio post that I had posted. However, deleting something off your own blog, even if you were the original poster, does not remove it from the rest of tumblr (which is something I find really annoying). I received another warning (again for audio posts) despite the fact that I had deleted them from my blog. (Bottom line: It doesn’t matter if you delete it, it’s still floating around tumblr.)

Today I found this in my email. Is it a three strike policy? I don’t know. I couldn’t find any definite answer to this. Tumblr does give you the option to contest a copyright notice, but it involves giving out all your personal information, and there’s no way I would have contested these anyway.

[TL;DR]

Guys, be careful about what you post on your blogs! Even if you delete it, it’s not gone from tumblr. Even if you give credit, link to the original, or have a disclaimer on your blog it does not protect you!

This is an article about a ‘popular’ tumblr that was shut down because of copyright, and this is a woman’s eye-opening story about image copyright. Please take the time to read these so you won’t end up in a situation like this! I know I’m not the only one who’s in this situation. Stay safe guys!
